“What’s the difference between a head massage and a dry head spa?”
First-time guests sometimes ask us this question.
In fact, the two are not completely different treatments.
A dry head spa is one type of head massage.
In this article, we explain the differences in simple terms.
There Are Two Main Types of Head Massage
“Head massage” is a general term for any treatment that loosens up the head.
Broadly speaking, there are two types:
• dry head spa (a head massage done without water)
• wet head spa (a head massage done while shampooing, as at a hair salon)
In other words, “head massage” is the broad category, and “dry head spa” and “wet head spa” both fall within it.
Dry Head Spa vs. Wet Head Spa
Because a dry head spa uses no water or shampoo, the therapist can work directly on the scalp and finely adjust the pressure to suit each person’s condition.
Another advantage is that your hair stays dry, so you can head straight to work, shopping or dinner afterward.
A wet head spa, on the other hand, is done at a hair salon or similar place using shampoo and treatment products.
It is often chosen to keep the scalp and hair clean and to care for the scalp and hair, letting you enjoy relaxation and hair care at the same time.
Both are forms of head massage, but they differ in technique and purpose.
La HEAD’s Dry Head Spa
At La HEAD, we make the most of the water-free dry head spa to offer treatments that care for the head, neck, shoulders and arms as one connected whole.
Through technical collaboration with nationally licensed staff at an osteopathic clinic (seikotsu-in), we also incorporate knowledge of body structure and muscle connections into our treatments.
With so much desk work and smartphone use today, many people feel strain not only in the head but also in the neck, shoulders and arms.
That’s why we tailor each treatment to your individual condition, aiming to give you time to relax in both mind and body.
